Huskies Blueprint

OUR HISTORY

The Shropshire Huskies were founded in the summer of 2018 with the goal of being an amateur team with a difference. The club is ran by it’s members for it’s members. Despite not necessarily being at the level to play league hockey that doesn’t mean our players can’t be treated like they are. This includes the kit we wear, how the club is promoted and how we play on the ice. In 2022, due to growing membership numbers, the club expanded with the launch of a second team to cater for a range of abilities.

Huskies & The Community

The Shropshire Huskies are also big advocates of supporting charitable causes, in 2022 the club hosted their first charity night in support of Cancer Research UK. the event was a huge success raising over £2,500. In 2023 the club continued to build on the success of the previous year, this year in support of Telford MIND. Once again the nights were a huge success with hundreds of supporters turning out to watch the game and raise money for a fantastic cause with the final total again hitting the £2,500 mark.

Shropshire Huskies 1

Following the expansion in 2022 the club launched the Huskies first team. Huskies 1 is treated as though it is a league team with the systems, coaching and standards that come with that but for players who might not quite be at the level of NIHL2. Our first team enter competitions each year in the hunt for the clubs first piece of silverware. Huskies 1 are fortunate to be coached by a championship winning NIHL2 coach and the proof is in the pudding with no fewer than 10 players who have played for Huskies going on to then play NIHL hockey

Shropshire Huskies 2

Huskies 2 was launched with the goal of providing a friendly, welcoming environment for those who are newer to the sport whilst also benefiting from the coaching and systems used by our first team. Huskies 2 play regular challenge games and for the first time in the 2023/24 season Huskies 2 will be competing in a cup competition named in honour of their late teammate, Laura Carrillo.
